As Program Manager, Ruth Starr is responsible for building and sustaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communications, education, and collaboration from ideation to delivery of projects. Ruth is responsible for URU’s Our Humanity and Building Bridges: The Power of the Sisterhood programs.
Previously, Ruth has worked at some of the nation’s leading cultural institutions—museums dedicated to lifelong learning, storytelling, and fostering community engagement. Most recently, she worked at Cooper Hewitt,Smithsonian Design Museum, where she applied an inclusive, design-driven framework to the development of a range of physical and analog products addressing design narratives.
Ruth earned a B.S. in Museum Studies, American Sign Language-English Interpretation from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She is a Member of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and an Advisor for the Smithsonian Science Education Center.
