“A Love Affair to Remember: Brookside.”   The mission of this documentary is to capture the unique experience of the community that lived within the Brookside Housing Project.  In doing so, we wish to debunk social and economic myths that our environment is the sole determining factor of our outcome as members of society.  People living in the urban areas of America do not have sufficient documentation that speaks directly and positively to their experiences in a multi-racial, urban community.

Very few films highlight the pride that specific places and experiences can bring to a community.  Noted neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson says, “Feeling really proud of the city you live in gives a person a sense of belonging to something of value and engenders feelings of confidence and self-esteem.”  In many ways, “A Love Affair to Remember: Brookside” gives voice to a specific community’s pride and will offer a powerful and valuable account of the triumphs of the human spirit in the face of economic and social obstacles.  It offers the New Haven community, and the world at large, the encouragement of integrity and love.

“A Love Affair to Remember: Brookside” provides an essential opportunity to preserve and celebrate the history of a unique community.  Please join us in ensuring that this documentary project achieves its greatest potential.
